Love GenX Style Contest entry #14

Remember the story with the most votes wins the "date with your spouse" gift certificate! If you haven't yet submitted a story...what are you waiting for? :)

Today's entry is from Cassie L:

Cory and I met my freshman year in college. We went to a small private college where they gave out a phone directory of all the students.

Well, Cory's younger brother was in a couple of my classes and I was trying to call him so we could study.

I didn't even know this boy had a brother, so I looked up the last name Largaespada (how common can THAT name be?) in the EagleCom (yes, that is what it was called) and dialed the number.

As I'm sure you can see it coming, I called Cory instead of his brother. It took me a few minutes to discover what had happened. Once that was straightened out, we went on to have a 3 hour conversation even though we had never met in person. We both said how strange it was to be talking so long with someone we didn't even know.

This began a great friendship that eventually led to a dating relationship and, soon afterword, engagement and marriage.

Now, we have 4 gorgeous (that is my totally objective opinion) children and we have been married for almost 10 years!

I often wonder if we would be where we are today if I hadn't called the wrong number 11 years ago.

That is such a cute story! It definitely wasn't an accident that you called the "wrong" brother! God works in mysterious ways!

Too cute, I wonder what would have happened had you called the correct number. You might have married the brother. HAHA. I have a twin so my husband could have married my twin. Nope his best friend did. That is what you call an arranged marriage. Or at least that's what they say. Keeping it in the family. LOL

Your story reminds me of how my husband and I met. We ended up on a hiking trail, far from the rest of the group, for over an hour...and this we the first time I had met this man. His story was so intriguing and I was captivated by him that first day. Thanks for sharing your story. It is great getting to know someone from Florida!!

Wow that is a good story. Everything happens for a reason as they say. And it also must have been Fate, Destiny, etc. You must have really "clicked" on the phone to have it continue forward. Good luck to you and your happy family! :D

It is my experience that God's plans include some of the most interesting twists and turns - but always with His good purpose. We continue to be thrilled and amazed by the relationship He established between the two of you, and of course, by the wonderful, fantastic, talented, beautiful (well, you get the idea) grandchildren He has given us as a result!

I'm shocked to see what lengths some of the participants go to get votes (MULTIPLE votes from same person, so many anonymous votes that all sound the same, their children voting - obviously typed by their parents?). Isn't this a Christian blog? How far will people go for a free dinner?
